Binaural Immersion

Concept:

This piece is meant for the Bose AR glasses and would require two people in order for the interaction to work as intended. The idea behind the interaction is to have one person create audio that is set in a mobile application with the use of soundboards.

Bose AR Glasses for the person that will be listening to the audio when it is triggered by the person using the soundboard. The wearer is meant to react accordingly to gunfire so they do not get hit—similar to Dead Drop Desperado.

The military application is one example of creating immersion that could help reaction time in the real world. Virtual Reality headsets are great for military training simulations, however, by omitting the visual element and only using binaural audio, the soldier would learn to visualize what and where sounds are coming from without needing to turn to see them.

Binaural audio is a very effective way to create immersion and can evoke emotions and reactions that cannot be done easily in other forms of interactions. Many industries can benefit from the use of binaural audio for a variety of reasons—entertainment like games and movies, military training simulations, and medical applications like treatment for anxiety disorders.
